SDL-based modelling and design of IN/UMTS handover functionality

چکیده
In this paper a handover functional model and corresponding functionality description in SDL for the IN/UMTS concept for third generation mobile systems protocol development is presented. The model is based on ETSI NA-61301 [1] handover functional model. The main focus is on the introduction and specification of necessary Functional Entities for control and execution of the switching function for handover service provisioning. The mapping methodology of the handover IN/UMTS model, functional entities and their behaviour to SDL mechanisms is described. This results in the introduction of a generic, extendible for future requirements and faithful specification methodology, that serves as a basis for the simulation and implementation of handover protocols able to cope with various handover types and UMTS environments.

Design and Implementation of Radio Link Control as a Part of the WCDMA Radio Interface Protocols by using SDL
The Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) is the most powerful technology in the third generation (3G) mobile communication and it is the base for the 4G technology. The Wide band Code Division Multiple Accessing (WCDMA) is the radio access technique for the UMTS system. The Radio Link Control (RLC) Protocol is apart from layer 2 of WCDMA protocol architecture. In this paper, we pres...
متن کاملMapping of Sdl and Corba Features for Modelling Software Radio Aspects
The provision of software radio features in 3rd generation mobile systems enables terminal and system flexibility for the support of platform independent services and migration of 2nd generation mobile systems. To achieve adaptivity of UMTS terminals and system, a new modelling and design approach is necessary. This contribution presents a novel architecture model related to dynamic aspects and...
متن کاملSDL-Simulation Tool for Advanced Handover Protocols
This paper discusses the need for joint link level and system level simulations for thirdgeneration mobile radio systems and points out a way of implementing them in SDL. The simulation of third-generation mobile radio interfaces is a particular challenge to computational power. Complex systems are needed to support the demands of ATM services and high data of rates up to 2 Mbit/s in the UMTS b...
متن کاملSeamless Handover between UMTS and GPRS
UMTS is one step ahead from the 2.5G network GPRS and supports faster data rates with wide coverage area. GPRS and UMTS are already deployed in many countries but seamless handover between GPRS and UMTS still remains as a stumbling block for the service providers to fulfill the continuously increasing customer demand for internet and data access in the IP-based wireless network and to maintain ...
متن کاملA new approach based on state conversion to stability analysis and control design of switched nonlinear cascade systems
In this paper, the problems of control and stabilization of switched nonlinear cascade systems is investigated. The so called simultaneous domination limitation (SDL) is introduced in previous works to assure the existence of a common quadratic Lyapunov function (CQLF) for switched nonlinear cascade systems. According to this idea, if all subsystems of a switched system satisfy the SDL, a CQLF ...
